How to remove permanent marker from skin?
The ink of any permanent marker is, for obvious reasons, very complicated to clean. It is that the chemical composition it contains has been specially formulated to leave a deep impression on any surface.
- Wash your hands with an exfoliating soap and warm water to remove as much ink from the marker as possible. Dry them thoroughly with a hand towel.
- Moisten a paper towel with alcohol disinfectant. Apply over the permanent marker until no more ink comes out of the skin.
- Moisten a cotton ball with milk. Apply the cotton ball soaked in milk to the rest of the permanent marker spot.
- Rewash your hands with an exfoliating soap and warm water. Dry them thoroughly with a towel.
- Rub the stained skin with a permanent marker with white toothpaste, not in gel form. Apply a small amount of toothpaste directly on the surface. Rub with a paper towel until the tag has disappeared. Wash your hands to remove the paste.
- Use a nail polish remover if the permanent marker remains on the skin after trying the above methods. Moisten a paper towel with nail polish remover and rub the surface until the marker disappears completely. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to remove the remains of the product.
It is essential that you bear in mind that these methods do not guarantee of anything, but they will serve as an alternative to throwing away a garment or an object that, at first, you gave for lost. So, without a doubt, it’s worth trying.
Use alcohol
Cotton, a little drinking and rub. Of course, the ethyl alcohol you use makes sure that, at least, it is between 80 and 101 degrees.
Note: Instead of using cotton, you can also use a sponge or cloth. However, it is possible that after rubbing the stain, remains of it and, if this is the case, shower a couple of times until it disappears.
Advice and recommendations
Isopropyl alcohol, acetone or ethyl alcohol is one of the remedies that also work well to dilute marker marks in case you do not have anything better by hand. To this day, the vast majority of bathrooms and kitchens have modern countertops, so it is more than likely that they are waterproof. If this is the case, it means that both the stain and the cleaning product that you use will remain on the surface, quite the opposite that happens with wooden furniture that has not been previously treated or other that is not of a modern nature. It is always advisable that you first try the product at a point not very visible so that you do not spoil the entire piece of furniture.
Things you should NOT do
Be careful to use alcohol or acetone near the eyes, nose or mouth, especially in children. The extremities are usually more resistant than the face, but this does not mean that you do not have to go with caution when using this type of product.
In the case of children or people with sensitive skin, we do not recommend stains that have artificial colors from dyes, lacquer or to use since they can be abrasive to the skin. For cotton fabrics, it is tough to use isopropyl alcohol. Otherwise, you will end up expanding the stain.
